Yoga originated in India, thousands of years ago and was traditionally only studied and practiced by men. In the West, Yoga seems to be portrayed as an exercise generally practiced by women. This is not so.

The numbers of men practicing yoga is on the increase and sportsmen and athletes are finding that yoga greatly benefits their sport. Yoga has been found to alleviate tight muscles, improve flexibility, improve joint mobility and keep the body toned to help avoid injury. Yoga may also assist in a speedier recovery following injury. The breathing practices of yoga will also improve breathing capacity as you learn to breathe more efficiently. Focus and concentration is also improved and it is great for combating the effects of stress.

Yoga will compliment any sport or fitness activity. It is also beneficial if you have a manual profession or are in sedentary employment.
